Wokha, July 15 (EMN): Advisor of Information and Communication, Science and Technology and NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon, advised the teachers and students to be diligent in their assigned duties and responsibilities and “Bloom where you are planted.”
Speaking at the silver jubilee celebration of Bailey Baptist College (BBC) in Wokha on Thursday, Kikon called for transformation by reviewing the past and taking a leap to bringing reputation to the college. He particularly challenged the teaching faculty to make extra efforts in making learning/teaching friendly, interactive and engaging. Besides, he also reminded the teachers to upgrade themselves by reading more books and acquire with the latest developments and information.
He also urged the students and teachers to hard work in order to make a benchmark, while reminding that Bailey Baptist College was forged through prayer and dedication, a home mission started by the Lotha Baptist Church (LBC).
He also urged the college administration to bring in good academic results rather than on the number of enrolments. Kikon further declared to contribute towards setting up a computer lab in the college. In this regard, he called upon the alumni members to reason together for the development of the college.
Kikon also unveiled the 25th silver jubilee monolith and released the college souvenir magazine. The jubilee monolith was dedicated by Rev. Abemo Jungio, pastor of Wokha Town Baptist Church (WTBC).
The director of Higher Education, Dr. Apeni Lotha, urged the college authority to obtain all the required grades from the state (AAA) and central (NAAC assessment). As the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 focuses on educational transformation, she pointed out that the college needs to go through various assessments and grading.
The celebration was enthralled with songs presented by assistant professor of Sociology, N Yanpothung Ezung, students and WTBC choir.
