Azuram village awarded for highest Covid-19 vaccination rate in Manipur

Imphal, July 22 (EMN): Azuram village in Manipur was awarded a cash prize of INR 50,000 for having the highest percentage of Covid-19 vaccination in a month while two healthcare workers were awarded INR 10,000 each for mobilising more than 300 persons for Covid vaccination during the period.

The two healthcare workers are Nambuanliu Moita (45), Asha (Accredited Social Health Activist) of Happy villa and Panmei Dailiu (36), Asha facilitator of Kahulong village.

The DC of Tamenglong district, Armstrong Pame, who is also the chairman of the District Health Society, made an announcement in this regard on Wednesday evening.

As per the announcement, altogether 149 (97.38 percent) out of 153 eligible persons in Azuram village in Tamenglong district were vaccinated while two persons had not been vaccinated as per medical condition while two others were bed ridden.

The district authority, after observing the declining rate of vaccination in the Tamenglong district despite efforts of the District Task Force, announced the initiative to award villages and health care workers.

Among all the 16 districts of Manipur, Imphal West district (2,89,720) tops the list while among all 10 hill districts, the Churachandpur district has given maximum number (93,468) of anti-Covid jabs including 80,048 first and 13,420 second doses to its residents, according to official reports.

According to the State Health Society Manipur sources, the state has nearly 20 lakh eligible population for the Covid-19 vaccination programme. Since the formal launching of the vaccination drive on January 16 this year, the state has so far given 11,11,138 doses of Covid vaccines including 9,79,896 first and 1,31,242 second doses to the residents.
