Our Correspondent MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 19 MINISTER for Roads and Bridges, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu has expressed satisfaction over workmanship under SARDP, NEC and PMGSY. However, he is waiting for one revised sanction for one project under NEC whose DPR (Detailed Project Report) has been faulty, to get it going sooner. This follows his just concluded touring program to Longleng District.Reviewing the bad road conditions, the Minister told Eastern Mirror that “Central Government sends Maytas-Gayatri (JV) not to build roads but to destroy the existing road.” He was of the view that Central projects “should cancel their work orders immediately and hand over the budget to the State” because the local contractors are ore capable.” He expressed unhappiness the prior to projects under Central initiation, roads were good but these are not so at present. “Maytas-Gayatri will always be in a mess,” he said. Regarding the much hyped about Foothill project he stated that there are two projects under foothill road which people are confused with and clarified that the two projects are two separate issues but can be co-related too. “The first project is maintenance and up-gradation of all existing foothill connectivity for which all tender process will be done by September-October and work shall process latest by November this year. The second project is long term project of four lane road which ultimately is the foothill project and the cost estimate is Rs 7000 crore “Government of India (GoI) had never given any National project to Nagaland since its inception of statehood” said the Minister referring to the second project of four-lane road. He said “it is the science of step-motherly treatment to Nagaland”. He remarked that Rs 7,000 crore is a huge amount and it will cost four years of project cost. Central projects and National projects are different in nature of processing and the State cannot do anything until it is processed as central project, he added.
