Dimapur, Dec. 3 (EMN): Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 3-Dimapur-III, Azheto Zhimomi, has encouraged youth to work in unity by seeking cooperation and opinions of the elders in the society.

He was speaking during the cultural exchange programme organised by East Dimapur Youth Organisation (EDYO) on Saturday at Kachari community playground in Kushiabill on the theme “Community beyond own communities.” While acknowledging the difficulty in organising such an event, he appreciated the organisers and encouraged them to continue organising such programmes even in the coming days.

He also encouraged the youth to work in unity by seeking the opinions and suggestions of elders. For a peaceful co-existence, he advised to respect, love and help each other and move forward.

“To unite our community and grow, it largely depends on the youth because when it is mixed with politics it gets corrupted as politics is a dirty game,” he said.

During the programme, the presidential address was delivered by Kanato S Awomi, SDYO president, while a short speech was delivered by Khekuto Jakha, chairman of Kushiabill village council, East Dimapur.

Cultural items were presented by Mech Kachari, Sumi tribe, Garo tribe, Dimasa tribe, folk songs by Chakhesang, Ao, Tikhir and Aosenla Sangtam communities and songs were presented by Toshi Longkumer and NK Naga.

Founder of Youthnet, Hekani Jakhalu, was the guest of honour of the valedictory session.
