Ayushman Bhava health mela held in Medziphema

DIMAPUR — A total of 219 persons were benefitted from the Ayushman Bhava health mela held at Community Health Centre (CHC), Medziphema, on Friday. Public have availed services provided by specialists in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, dermatology, surgery, ear nose and throat (ENT), eye and medicine.

The mela was inaugurated by Rajiv Manjhi, joint secretary Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and nodal officer for Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland under Ayushman campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, Manjhi stated that the main purpose of the health camp was to ensure the people of the country get health benefits. He added that the government is issuing Ayushman card for the needy people. He added that the health mela was organised to encourage everyone to come and get themselves screened for any ailment.

Also citing about the misconception of organ donations in the state, he mentioned that they must organise some awareness campaign so as to make people understand with regard to the organ donation. For organ donation, proper facilities, to transplant, and preserve the organ, are also being considered simultaneously, he added.

Limatula Aier, chief medical officer (CMO) of Dimapur, cited some of the challenges they are facing in generating ayushman card. She assured to give assistance to those beneficiaries, who have not received Ayushman card. She also mentioned that there is difficulty in generating cards due to network issues.

She said that 100% is not achievable due to those issues but if it is taken up at the ministry level, then they will be able to issue more, especially to those who are working at the sanitation sector who are unable to get the cards due to this reason.

The medical officer of CHC Medziphema, Temjensunep, shared that they are providing whatever medicines is available in their dispensary for free to the people, not only on health Mela but every day.

The mela was organised by department of Community Medicine, Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Kohima.
