Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) and Kohima Town Colonies Youth Organisation (KTCYO) have declared “Zero Tolerance” against all forms of violence against individuals/groups inciting communal tensions/ violence/clashes etc or against people/groups and vitiating the peaceful atmosphere of the town through the acts of terror or otherwise.
The declaration to this effect was made in today’s joint meeting of the two organizations. With the forthcoming festive season, the house appealed to all the citizens to abide with the law and order of the State and also impressed upon all NPGs to rein in discipline within their ranks and files. It reiterated the standing resolution of the organizations in extending ‘non cooperation’ against any group/organization disturbing the peaceful atmosphere of the town.
Amongst other resolutions, the house agreed to support and fully participate in the sanitation programme initiated and organized by the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) and Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) on November 14. The meeting lauded the initiative of the ASU and appealed to all to give importance to sanitation drive.
On the ongoing improvement works carried out in and around Kohima town particularly on roads, the house agreed to extend full cooperation and support the development works executed by the government. The house demanded that the implementing agencies deliver quality services to the public. On the smart city project, the colonies have welcomed the project and have committed to fully support the project.
Reiterating the public orders/notifications issued by the district administration and KMC, AYO directed the colonies to immediately vacate all the off road vehicles, control the dumping of building materials/ goods and other materials dumped on the roadside and to immediately mend the pipe lines damaging the public roads. The house also cautioned all OFC cable parties to immediately rectify their works. On the menace of letting/ flushing out septic tanks, AYO has imposed ban on such activities and authorized the respective colonies to take necessary disciplinary action against violators to the order/ resolution, failing which AYO warned actions against the defaulting colonies.
Officials from 19 colonies of Kohima town attended the meeting. This was stated in a press release issued by AYO president, Medo Yhokha, and secretary, Rokoketou Sechü.
