EMN KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 2 Subsequent to a series of meeting with the state government, the BRO/BRTF and concerned departmental officials pertaining to the issue of public roads in the state capital, the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) has on Monday informed that it has decided to give a time space to the concerned authorities to pursue the ongoing repairing and patching works in Kohima in the interest and convenience of all. The decision was arrived at on the “seriousness and assurance” given to AYO by competent authorities to provide quality roads to the public with the resources available at their disposal for the immediate season. This was stated in a release today by AYO vice president, Kekhrievolie Keyho and press secretary, Tsotuo Sale. The organization has acknowledged the Chief Minister TR Zeliang and minister PWD (R&B) Vikheho Swi for personally taking up the issue, for making the commitment, effort and initiative to deliver quality service and goods to the subjects of the state, particularly the Chief Minister for the prompt response in allocating funds to execute necessary works in the state capital. Vital roads in and around the capital, it was stated, will be given complete improvement within a couple of week’s time. Towards this, AYO has called upon the citizens of Kohima to endure the situation and cooperate with the authorities executing developmental works in their respective areas to ensure that deliverance of quality works is not hindered or strangulated. More on page 5 AYO has also, in order to sustain durability of services provided to the public, cautioned all subjects of the PHED, water/cable pipes, the telecom particularly the OFC sectors and individuals concerned to “immediately mend their works”. Further AYO urged upon the State Quality Control Board (SQCB) to make its presence and works visible in the public domain. “While reposing good faith to the assurance given by the government, AYO is constrained to make its stand clear that in event of non-deliverance of quality services to the public on genuine subject by the authority, the organization will be compelled to take the matter to the streets at any point of time and circumstances,” the release stated.
