AWUM resolves to restrict overnight stay of guests

The All Ward Union Mokokchung (AWUM) has resolved that no guest from outside the district would be allowed to stay overnight within its jurisdiction with effect from July 24 till further notice.

The resolution to this effect was taken during an emergency meeting held on July 21, an update stated.

The union also resolved that there would be compulsory home quarantine for any individual from Mokokchung town upon their return from outside the district.

Meanwhile, AWUM expressed gratitude to all the frontline warriors led by the district administration, healthcare workers, district task force, police personnel, first responder, sanitation workers, essential service providers and the various civil society organisations and churches for the immense sacrifice, dedication, commitment and unwavering support in their efforts towards containing the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in the district.

The union also expressed appreciation to the legislators in-charge of the district namely Metsubo Jamir and Imkong L Imchen for their leadership and sincerity in discharging their service for the welfare and safeguard of the people during this challenging situation.

AWUM further thanked the various villages, wards and institutions for their consent to set up the institutional quarantine centres for the returnees. The union also acknowledged the positive response of the public during the battle against the pandemic.

AWUM further appealed to all the citizens of Mokokchung to strictly adhere to the laid down SOP on social distancing, wearing of face masks, maintenance of personal hygiene and home quarantine procedure.

Mongoya quarantine centre declared ‘containment zone’

Following detection of two inmates for Covid-19, who were lodged at quarantine centre in Mokokchung on Wednesday, the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir has declared the Mongoya quarantine centre as containment zone with immediate effect. An official source confirmed that containment zone has been declared after the confirmation of two male positive cases detected at Mongoya quarantine centre some 10 kilometres away from Mokokchung town.

The official disclosed that currently they are two containment zones in the district that included Mongoya Prayer Centre and Multi-sports Complex. Mokokchung district positive cases reached nine with three cases of recovery so far.

An official source also disclosed that there are 169 inmates sheltered in various institutional quarantine centres and Covid Care Centre in the district.

Since the inter-state transit began on June, more than 500 returnees have completed their quarantine periods in various institutional quarantine centres. Besides, there are 71 returnees who are undergoing home quarantine after completing their institutional quarantine centres period in the district, the official informed.
