Awareness programme on PMKSY conducted

Dimapur, Nov. 23 (EMN): An awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) was held at Hotel Japfu on Nov. 22 which was organised by the department of industries and commerce under the sponsorship of Ministry of Food Processing Industries, GOI.
Deputy director of agriculture Bodevei Shuya and deputy director of horticulture, Meyasashi were the resource persons for the sessions. The two resource persons highlighted the vast potentials of utilising the available agri. & horti. resources of the state.

In his key note address, Vitsutho Nyuthe, joint director of Industries & Commerce said the government of India has approved a new central sector scheme called Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (Scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters) with an allocation of INR 6,000 crore for the period 2016-20 coterminous with the 14th Finance Commission cycle. The scheme will be implemented by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI).

M Kisan SAMPADA Yojana is a comprehensive package which will result in creation of modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management from farm gate to retail outlet. It is a big step towards doubling of farmers income, creating employment opportunities, reducing wastage of agricultural produce, increasing the processing level and enhancing the export of the processed foods.

Nyuthe earnestly requested the entrepreneurs to come forward and avail the benefits of these schemes for development of this this sector.
