DIMAPUR — A district-level awareness programme on the adoption of BHIM-UPI in panchayati raj institutions was held on Wednesday at DC conference hall in Kohima.

According to a DIPR report, DC Kohima Kumar Ramnikant stated in his keynote address on the occasion that there is no difference among central, state, and village levels and that all three stakeholders play an important role in their own ways.

Ramnikant said that panchayati raj and village councils play an important role in the growth of the nation and that the world is changing at a faster pace with everything digital. He, therefore,  asked village council chairmen and secretaries to keep grassroot democracy up to date in order to keep up with the rest of the world.

He also asked the village representatives to become more adept at operating new systems so that the villagers could learn more easily, and he urged them to seek clarification from experts if they had any questions.

The district development manager (DDM), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Poji, highlighted the details and importance of BHIM-UPI, while K Kanmei, branch manager, SBI Jakhama, enlightened the stakeholders on the technical aspects of using BHIM-UPI and its benefits.

The meeting was presided over by Moasunep Jingru, EAC Kohima, and attended by village council chairmen and village development board secretaries from the Kohima district.
