Dimapur, Nov. 14 (EMN): Commemorating the International Street Vendors Day on November 14, North East Network (NEN) Nagaland, in collaboration with Self Employed Women Association (SEWA) Nagaland, carried out street awareness campaigns in Kohima and Dimapur.

The campaign was focussed on sensitising the street vendors on Nagaland Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Rules 2019, their rights and obligations, and highlighting the significant contribution of women street vendors to their families and society at large, an update from NEN stated on Sunday.

At Kohima, NEN Nagaland team reached out to street vendors at High School Colony, Razhu Point, and BOC area, while at Dimapur, the district executive committee of Dimapur SEWA reached out to street vendors at New Market, Purana Bazaar, Super Market and Rangapahar.

An information booth was also set up at Dimapur to provide relevant information on SEWA, it’s work with street vendors, and Nagaland Street Vendors Rules 2019 to SEWA members and the public.

The International Street Vendors Day is annually celebrated on November 14. The day is celebrated across the world to raise awareness on the significant challenges that street vendors faced and called for recognition of the contribution made by street vendors to local and national development.
