Awareness camp for adolescent girls held in Chiechama

Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): As part of Poshan Maah campaign, an awareness camp for adolescent girls was organised at Government Higher Secondary School, Chiechama, on September 18.
A press release by Anyile Khamo, CDPO Chiephobozou block, stated that students in the age group of 10-19 years have participated in the programme.

It stated that the medical officer (Ayush), Chiephobozou, Dr. Orentsani spoke on the importance of physical, psychological and behavioural changes during an adolescent period. She highlighted on the importance of balance diet and nutrition through a food pyramid chart to tide over physiological changes during the period. She has emphasised on personal hygiene especially during menstrual period to tackle the stigma of health issues in the long run.

She further urged the students to avail different facilities from Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic (AFHC).
The importance of blood test to detect early cases of HIV was delivered by the counsellor of Ayush, Mhiesirieto PunyĆ¼, while the yoga instructor, Kelhouzasie Lawrence, demonstrated on the importance of body stretch for stress and pain relief.

The release also stated that IEC pamphlets were distributed to each students. Besides, checking of BMI, weight and height were conducted by nurses from CHC, Chiephobozou.

The programme was chaired by Chubasungla in which students and teachers as well as staff from medical department attended the programme.
