Our Correspondent Wokha, August 16 (EMN): Following an assurance from the Minister of Geology and Mining and Border Affairs, Mmhonlumo Kikon, to look into improving the road conditions within the district, the All Commercial Vehicles Association Wokha has decided to call off the blockade imposed on Wokha-Merapani road with immediate effect. The ACVA Wokha had called the blockade on Wokha-Merapani road from August 5 in protest against the poor condition of roads in the district. It decided to call off the blockade following an assurance by the minister during a meeting held in the official residence of the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Wezope Kenye, along with R&B officials and AVCA Wokha members on Wednesday. During the discussion, the minister assured to hold meeting with the competent authority at the State level towards improvement of the road along the stretch at the earliest. It may be mentioned here that ACVA Wokha has been demanding immediate construction of “plyable” road and commencement of work by the concerned contractors for Wokha-Merapani after it was learned that work order was released three months back.
