[dropcap]A[/dropcap] group of auto rickshaw drivers calling themselves the “General Auto Drivers” in Dimapur has asked the deputy commissioner of Dimapur to stop the Dimapur District Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ Union from “illegal collection.”
The general Auto Drivers issued a note on Friday seeking immediate redress from the district authorities.“ The General Auto Drivers ( GAD) Dimapur , while appreciating and willing to comply with the district administration on fare reduction where Autos are for public service and our survival depends on public and cooperation. However, the General Auto Drivers, questioned the district administration and law enforcing agencies as to why it is not complying and implement the government order and high court judgment, prohibiting DDADU from daily collection,” the note stated.
According to a group, once the district administration and law enforcements stop the DDADU from “daily illegal collection from auto stand , Railway station and every corner in Dimapur town,” the “GAD will adhere to the fare revision.”
“The GAD will not be in a position to shoulder both fare cut and daily collection which is beyond our daily earning , in the event of failure to comply its demand,” the auto rickshaw group stated. The group also “resolved that, after the students examination is over, the GAD will go on indefinite general strike from March 4, till the district administration and law enforcing agency stop illegal collection by DDADU.”
