Kohima, May 5 (EMN): Ten-year old Sochumlo Suki Ezung is set to become probably the youngest author in Nagaland as she releases her book on ‘Suki’s Magic Box’ on May 10 at Kohima.
Vishü Rita Krocha, publisher of PenThrill Publication House said this in a pre-release event on Friday evening.
Suki’s Magic Box is a children’s book featuring the works of talented children Sochumlo Suki Ezung and Yimyanglula Longkumer, who are friends; and classmates and students of G Rio Higher Secondary School in Kohima.
Speaking to this correspondent, Sochumlo Suki Ezung said she started writing in her scrap book, where she would write stories about her teachers. Ezung said she gets inspiration from ‘whatever she sees.’
Sochumlo Ezung’s ‘Suki’s Magic Box’ comprises stories that are a creative reflection of the beautiful imagination of a ten-year-old girl. She started writing at the age of seven, it was informed.
Suki’s Magic Box has been illustrated by her friend Yimyanglula Longkumer and colored by a six-year-old Leree Jane Krocha, a class-1 student of Mt. Hermon Higher Secondary School in Kohima.
Sochumlo’s mother Meripeni Zares Ezung said that she introduced her daughter to books at the age of three years which she eventually picked it up. Thereafter her mother started reading books for her which became a habit for her to read books. “Now she can’t sleep without reading books,” Meripeni Ezung said.
At a very young age, she would write stories and tell stories to her family every time she gets a chance, her mother said. She believed that this would be a stepping stone for other children of her age to unravel their hidden talents.
The book will be released on May 10 at the Conclave Hall, LCS Building, in Kohima town at 4 pm by Daisy Mezhur, the secretary of the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board and Mission Director of State Resource Centre for Women.
