Auditorium, sports court inaugurated at Wangkhao Government College

DIMAPUR — An open auditorium and a basketball-cum-badminton court were inaugurated at Wangkhao Government College, Mon, on Saturday.

According to a DIPR report, the Deputy Commissioner of Mon and Chairman of the Wangkhao College Advisory Board, Wennyei Konyak, attended the event as the guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Wennyei lauded the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) members and faculty for their cooperation in completing the constructions. He stated that education is not confined to the classroom only and hoped that the facility would create a platform where students can take initiatives and enrich campus life.

In the welcome address, Dr. Tialila, principal of Wangkhao Government College, gave a brief overview of the new facilities. “This auditorium is a symbol of solidarity, a testament that together we can do so much and bring it to fruition,” she said.

She noted that the auditorium was built through crowdfunding initiated by the deputy commissioner, while the basketball-cum-badminton court was constructed through the collective effort of the college authority and teachers.

The programme was chaired by Rongsennunglapongen, assistant professor, Department of Sociology, and the dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev. Yeangphong Konyak, district chaplain.
