Diphu, August 8(EMN): In protest against the admission process in Assam University Diphu Campus (AUDC), the student’s community organised sit in demonstration in front of the main entrance gate of Assam University Diphu Campus here on Tuesday. The gate has been closed down and no one was allowed to enter into the campus during the demonstration.
The demands of the student organisations are special Provision should be created for local Scheduled Tribes Hills ST(H) students in the admission of AUDC, maximum local ST(H) in number have to be given in admission, 2nd phase Admission list to be cancel and a new admissions list has to be prepare which must include more number of local ST(H) students in the 2nd phase list of admission.
Talking to Eastern Mirror on the sideline of the demonstration, President, KSU George Timung informed that until Assam University authority give a written assurance document, they will move on with indefinite bandh by locking down the main Campus entrance gate. He also said “we have started our indefinite locking the main campus entrance from today”.
The demonstration was jointly organised by Assam University Diphu Campus Students Union (AUDCSU) and Karbi Students Union (KSU).
