ATMA Niuland holds farmer-scientist interaction

DIMAPUR — Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Niuland, in collaboration with AICRP on Linseed, conducted field day at linseed field and farmer-scientist interaction in Vihokhu village on February 29 with resource persons from KVK (ICAR) and AICRP on Linseed, SAS, NU, Medziphema.

An update from ATMA Niuland stated that various queries were put up by the participants mostly women farmers on the post harvest management of linseed, selection of proper seed varieties of maize and paddy, pig feed and disease management.

It stated that resource person, Dr. AK Singh, junior breeder from AICRP on Linseed, highlighted on the importance and uses of linseed and encouraged more farmers to opt for its cultivation.

Another resource person, Dr. Bendangla Imsong, ACTO (Plant Breeding) from KVK-ICAR, sensitised on selection of proper certified seed varieties of any crops before cultivating at their respective fields, while Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie, ACTO (Animal Science) from KVK-ICAR, emphasised on the selection of proper breeds of livestock and to follow bio-security measures in order to reduce the risk of introduction and spread of diseases as well as to prevent outside agents from entering a farm or other facilities.
