Kohima, June 30 (EMN): Department of Food and Civil Supplies launched the ATMA-Nirbhar Bharat Scheme (ATMA-NBS) for the daily wage earners and stranded migrants workers in Kohima on June 30.
Launching the programme, the additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa said the scheme was especially launched for daily wagers and stranded migrant workers by the government in view of the extension of lockdown due to pandemic. Under the scheme, per person in a family will get 5 kg of rice and one kg of pulse per household free for two months, she informed.
The officer encouraged the daily wage earners and migrants workers to follow all the preventive measures, maintain hygiene and social distancing to protect from the coronavirus virus.
Assistant director of Food and Civil Supplies, Ipeldaung Lungalang, said that a total of 3,828 beneficiaries (daily wagers and stranded migrants) under Kohima district were given 5 kg of rice per person per month and 1 kg pulse per household under ATMA-Nirbhar Bharat scheme for two months.
He said 2371 daily wagers and stranded migrants workers in Kohima town will be benefited from the scheme, while 200 beneficiaries from Tseminyu, and 267 beneficiaries from Chiephobozou under Kohima district would be distributed 5 kg of rice and 1 kg of pulse free for two months.
Meanwhile, the department informed that five districts including Mokokchung, Longleng, Wokha, Dimapur, Kohima have launched the scheme so far. Further, the scheme would be launched in Kiphire district very soon.
The department also informed that beneficiaries from 1-10 wards in Kohima would receive the food items at the department’s office on June 30, while the remaining 10-19 wards would be distributed tomorrow.
