ATMA Mon conducts training programmes

Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Wakching block, conducted a two-day training and demonstration programme at Pongkong and Shiyong village on April 22 and 23 respectively.

On April 22 in Pongkong village, demonstration on mushroom production technology and best technique of growing tomato were carried out. Resource person, Weeniyie Yanlen, trained the farmers on how to use trichogramma cards for pest management.

Mushroom spawns were distributed to the participants.

On April 23 in Shiyong village, demonstration on vegetable cultivation and preparation and maintenance of poultry farming was done by the resource person, Weeniyie Yanlen.

A training on deep litter and cage poultry farming was also conducted by Roseline Pusa. 30 chicks along with feeds and feeders were distributed to the commodity interest group.

Altogether 27 farmers attended the two-day programme

In a similar programme, Angjangyang block conducted various training and demonstration programmes on April 22 and 23.

On April 22, training programme on production and management practices of poultry was conducted in Yakshu village.

Resource person, Nemchaba Jamir, BTM, explained on the importance of poultry farming for improving the livelihood of rural household by generating additional income and ensuring food security. He elaborated on management practices of poultry birds that included low cost housing, feeding, body weight, cost benefits, control of diseases and various technical supports.

Citing success story of poultry farmers, he encouraged the participants to follow suit.

In a separate programme, Leiwang Konyak, ATM, conducted training on insect pest management by setting sticky yellow trap and seed treatment of bio-fertiliser to the participants.

On April 23, Angjangyang block also organised a day-long training programme in Yaphang village. Participants from three food security groups were trained on cultivation practices of cucumber.

Resource person, Longrikaba Ao, ATM, elaborated on the cultivation techniques and also highlighted the health benefits and medicinal value of cucumber. On the same day, demonstration on production technology of oyster mushroom and preparation of bordeaux mixture was conducted by Leiwang Konyak, ATM.

Altogether, 58 participants from various FSG and SHG under Yakshu, Yonghong, Yaphang and Yei villages attended the programme. Poultry chicks, seeds and mushroom spawn were also distributed to the participants.
