ATMA members visit tea farm

Dimapur, Oct. 22 (EMN): The Agriculture Technology Management Agency of Longchem block visited the ‘farm school on tea’ at Akomen village on Oct. 20, updates stated on Sunday.

During the event Supongtemsu Longchar gave a demonstration to fellow farmers ‘tea leaf plucking techniques, pruning of tea plants and various other methods used in his farm.

“He shared about his challenges and experiences in establishing a commercial farm and also explained on the fluctuations of commercial prices of tea throughout the year,” the updates stated.

Also, Sakotsungba, ATM, explained various diseases and pests that affect tea. He demonstrated various pest control techniques and encouraged the farmers to use biological pest control methods.

There was a short interaction too during which various problems and opinions were the focus of interactions with the farmers. 20 farmers attended the programme, the updates added.
