DIMAPUR — The Administrative Training Institute (ATI), which was established with the objective of helping government departments tackle challenging public administration issues and enhance the performance of the employees, is working on collecting and documenting good governance practices being initiated over the years, so that it can serve as a repository of resources for reference, learning and research.

An update from the institute said that ‘different government departments and officers might have developed excellent practices on good governance and generated innovations that resulted in the efficient management of human and material resources, improved performance of the office, efficient public service delivery, effective implementation of the programmes and policies of the government, and introduction of novel techniques and methods to cater to different needs in the society’, but remain unknown to others due to non-documentation.

So, with an objective to identify and keep a record of such innovative practices and good governance initiatives, as well as give due recognition to those behind it, the ATI has requested government offices and departments to submit written or visual materials of such instances by March 31, 2024.

“Government Departments have been requested to certify the originality of the work while submitting the materials. Authorship of any written/visual material or development of any innovative idea by any department/officer shall be duly accorded and acknowledged,” read the notification made available to this newspaper by DIPR.

It also asked departments to identify officers who are capable of imparting training to others on such practices and initiatives so that it can be emulated in the interest of the people and the state.
