Atharva Foundation donates ambulance to ESM
DIMAPUR — A Mumbai-based organisation, Atharva Foundation, has donated a Mahindra Supro ambulance to Ex-servicemen League Mon through the directorate of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement of Ex-servicemen in Nagaland.
The state Home commissioner, Abhijit Sinha, handed over the ambulance to Sub. Maj. (retired) Khaknyei Konyak, who is also the president of the Ex-servicemen League Mon district, on Saturday at Nagaland Civil Secretariat complex in Kohima.
Addressing the gathering, Sinha emphasised the importance of health and medical services for ex-servicemen while stressing that adopting a healthy lifestyle can contribute to a longer and better life.
Despite the challenging road conditions in Mon district, he highlighted that the ambulance would play a crucial role in ensuring timely access to medical facilities.
While acknowledging that world-class healthcare might not be available, Sinha expressed hope that the ambulance would aid ex-servicemen in reaching essential medical services whenever the need arises.
The official urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the ambulance and underscored the significance of prioritizing medical facilities for all.
He wished that the ambulance would be a substantial benefit to the ex-servicemen of Mon district and reminded them of the importance of vehicle maintenance to ensure its longevity.
Speaking on the occasion, Capt. (IN) Lalsuonglien Tonsing (retd.), Director of the directorate of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Nagaland, highlighted the philanthropic gesture by the Atharva Foundation as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Project in 2022.
The Atharva Foundation, associated with The Atharva Educational Trust under the chairmanship of Borivali MLA Sunil Rane, has made significant strides in education and knowledge dissemination in various fields, he said.
Tonsing recognised the immense dedication and sacrifices made by the Armed Forces personnel while safeguarding international borders and supporting civil administration during crises and calamities.
He explained that the Atharva Foundation’s decision to donate the ambulance stemmed from their commitment to promoting the welfare of ex-servicemen, martyrs, serving soldiers, and their families.
Tonsing also shared his extensive travels throughout the state, highlighting the unique challenges faced by ex-servicemen in far-flung areas like Mon district while expressing gratitude to the Atharva Foundation for their compassionate act of donating the ambulance.
Unfortunately, Sunil Rane, Chairman of the Atharva Foundation, and Prof. Dr. Shinde, their coordinator, couldn’t attend the ceremony due to prior commitments.
However, they extended their best wishes to the event and the ex-servicemen of Nagaland.
On behalf of the Directorate and ex-servicemen of Nagaland, Tonsing conveyed their appreciation to the Atharva Foundation for their noble deed in providing an ambulance for the welfare of Nagaland’s ex-servicemen community.
The event concluded with a dedicatory prayer by Mhonchumo S Lotha, pastor of KLBC, Kohima.
