Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): Ao Students’ Union Kohima (ASUK) celebrated its 62nd foundation day at Molu Ki on October 1 with T Lanusenla Longkumer, administrator of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) as the speaker.

Speaking on the occasion, Lanusenla Longkumer gave a detailed modern-day perspective on the motto of the union “Learn Labour Achieve.” She encouraged the students to learn with a definite goal and objective in mind and take up studies and courses in which they have interests and in which they believe they could excel.

She has emphasised on the need to work hard and pointed out that one’s work culture is directly related to successes or failures in one’s ventures. She reminded that achieving success or passing an exam is not the end but the starting of a new life and journey and encouraged all to work towards further improving themselves by setting new goals and scaling newer heights.

She also spoke on the importance of doing what one loves and making those interests and skills as a means of livelihood and not solely aiming for government jobs and most importantly serving with integrity in whatever profession one is engaged in. Longkumer further shared in brief the need for all those staying in Kohima to be proactive citizens of the city and contribute towards the progress and development as Kohima is not just home to one tribe but for all Nagas as the state capital.

On the occasion, HSLC and HSSLC toppers of the 2021-22 batch from the Ao community in Kohima were also felicitated.

The programme began with a welcome address delivered by its president, Akumyanger, while the vote of thanks was delivered by its general secretary, Meyipong Kichu.
