ASUD’s ‘Autumn Hurdle’ underway

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 17

Parliamentary secretary and chairman, Nagaland State Agriculture Marketing Board (NSAMB), Dr. Benjongliba Aier, grace the inaugural function of ‘Autumn Huddle’ organized by the Ao Student’s Union Dimapur (ASUD) with theme ‘As one’ as chief guest. The function was held at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur.Dr Aier in his speech said Nagaland though a small state have many tribes living together harmoniously wherein different activities like festivals, sports, music, etc. brings the Naga families together.
He brought to light the importance of sports given by the DAN-III led government under the leadership of state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio who himself is a sportsman and that the youths today are fortunate in so many ways.
“With the support, Nagaland games and sports would grow and young talented sportspersons would bring fame to the state,” parliamentary secretary asserted.
He also donated Rs.80,000 towards the ASUD.
The two-day sporting event will conclude on Friday at 3 pm with parliamentary secretary for Urban Development, Zhaleo Rio gracing the closing ceremony.
Eight groups divided into 51 units under ASUD are competing in various disciplines including football, volleyball (both men and women) and track events-100 meters, 200 meters, 400×1 meters and half marathon (men and women).
