ASUD 50th anniversary celebration concludes

Dimapur, Dec.8 (EMN): Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) commemorated its 50th golden jubilee celebration on December 7 in Dimapur.
MLA Moatoshi Jamir, in his jubilee address, asserted that the 50 years achievement by the Nagas were through their sheer innocence, humble and generous approach which has completely changed at present.
“One reason why we don’t see much beggars these days was because Nagas have over taken them in begging,” asserted Jamir.
The legislator urged upon the youth to wake up while reminding them that they are not only for the future but a partner for today’s generation for building a better society.

Attributing all the happenings in the society to youth, Jamir exhorted the students’ community to play their part in preventing the deterioration of the environment and be partner for sustainable development.

Executive director of Sustainable Development Forum Nagaland (SDFN), Amba Jamir, who was also the main speaker of the event, reminded on the importance of promoting culture. He lamented that the present students’ community are ignoring native language and culture in their pursuit of acquiring knowledge. He reminded that book knowledge will not only help in building a better society.

The speaker also emphasised on skill development as he pointed out that in the pursuit of book knowledge skill based ability was ignored. He encouraged the youth to travel and not let culture be a piece of museum.
