ASU conducts night-trial football match for the upcoming NSF Martyr’s Trophy 2021

Dimapur, Oct. 1 (EMN): The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) along with the organising committee of 21st Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) Martyr’s Memorial Trophy 2021 conducted a night-trial football match at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on Thursday.

An update informed that the organising committee convenor, Dievi Yano expressed his satisfaction with the overall facility and thanked the contractor of the department of Youth Resources and Sports and the state government in general for the Astro turf pitch and floodlight at the stadium.

Yano said the inaugural match of the tournament will be played at 4:30 pm on Oct. 9, after which night matches will start from quarter finals till the grand finale, it stated.

The Trophy is organised in honour of late Kekuojalie Sachü of Kohima village and late Vikhozo Yhoshü of Kigwema village, who were victims to the indiscriminate firings of the Armed Police from Alichen, when the students’ fraternity were on a peaceful duty call regarding the extension of Disturbed Area Belt from 5 km along the Indo Myanmar Border and induction of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadres into the state of Nagaland on the March 20, 1986, it said.

Forms have been made available in Kohima at Sports Paradise, Ruluo Market Keziekie, Sports World, main town, KK Motors Royal Enfield, High School, NSF Office, ASU Office, below AIR Station, Falcon Corner at Medziphema, G-Sports at Chümoukedima and Kiran Sports in Dimapur. The last date of submission is Oct. 6, it added.
