An assistive devices distribution programme for senior citizens was conducted by ALIMCO and the Department of Social Welfare in Kiphire.
DIMAPUR — An assistive devices distribution programme for senior citizens was held at the Hopongku Memorial Hall in Kiphire on Tuesday.
The programme was organised by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) in association with the Department of Social Welfare and supported by the Kiphire district administration, according to an update from DIPR.
On the occasion, EAC Kiphire Takatemjen Pongen highlighted the schemes that provide free mobility aids, hearing aids, and rehabilitation kits for persons with disabilities. He said the government is strengthening welfare programmes, improving accessibility, and expanding support systems for vulnerable groups.
He extended his appreciation to ALIMCO for serving persons with disabilities with their technical expertise and commitment, ensuring that essential devices reach even the remote districts of India.

DISHA reviews central schemes in Mokokchung
The keynote address and technical briefing were presented by the ALIMCO representative, followed by a ceremonial distribution handing over selected assistive devices to a few token beneficiaries on stage. Hearing aids, wheelchairs with buckets, and walking sticks were distributed.
Dignitaries present at the programme included ALIMCO Manager Prakash Singh; Audiologist from Guwahati Sobana Devi; Prosthetist and Orthotist Dimapur Supongwati Jamir; EDP Dimapur Wabangchuba; and USW Dimapur Temjenchuba. Public leaders, GBs, and officials from Kiphire village and Kiphire town also attended the programme.
