Assisted living devices distributed in Longleng
DIMAPUR — In a significant development under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY), a programme for the distribution of assisted living devices was held at PBCA convention hall in Longleng town on Thursday.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, was aimed at enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens through the provision of essential devices, stated a DIPR report.
It informed that the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, was the chief guest of the programme, while the deputy commissioner of Longleng, Dharam Raj, was the special guest.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak P, EAC of Longleng, while Supongwati Jamir, PO of ALIMCO, Guwahati, and Tual ZaKam, Under Secretary, Government of India, delivered speeches highlighting the significance of the RVY scheme and the positive impact it brings to the elderly population.
Speaking at the programme, the deputy commissioner emphasised the government’s commitment for the welfare of senior citizens and the importance of programmes like RVY in achieving that goal.
YB Angam Phom, president of Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC), expressed gratitude to the Ministry, ALIMCO, district administration and Social Welfare department.
Report stated that the distribution of assisted living devices, a crucial aspect of the RVY scheme, was carried out with enthusiasm. It added that the devices, aimed at improving mobility and independence, were distributed to deserving beneficiaries.
The event was held with the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, implementing agency ALIMCO, Social Welfare department of Longleng and district administration of Longleng.
