Dimapur, Nov. 21 (EMN): A training programme was organised for Assisi peace club members to share about their experiences during lockdown and ways to intervene in conflicting situations.
The members were trained on how to resolve issues in schools, homes and locality on Nov. 20 and 21st, an update informed.
Alino S Chishi, coordinator of Kohima district, was the trainer for the two-day programme and the entire event was facilitated by Ng Alan Paul, coordinator of Dimapur district.
Chishi, in her session, "explored the children’s understanding of peace in their own life and trained them to nurture their inner-peace through meditation, how to initiate 'call for peace' in their classroom setting, school, and family and in their locality". She also highlighted the importance of confidence building, leadership skills, principles and peer mediation processes to be developed as young peace builders.
During her introductory session, she laid down certain guidelines and rules to follow during the session including maintaining distance from one another, respecting one another with acceptance and with non-judgmental attitude.
Focusing on the theme, she shared that 'call for peace' was one of the main activities of peace clubs.
"Call for peace is a slogan to take action by disrupting conflict situation to prevent violence," it read.
Further, she introduced peer mediation and the role of a peer mediator. The members were also trained on how to conduct peace celebrations in the school.
Altogether, 31 member were trained; 17 members on the first day and 14 members on the second day.
