DIMAPUR — From October 11 to 13, Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts hosted assessment camps for persons with disabilities (PwDs) as part of a series of camps under the ADIP scheme.

According to a DIPR report, the camps were organised in collaboration with the Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO) by the district administration, Chümoukedima; the District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), Dimapur; the National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, Dimapur; and the SD Jain Charitable Clinic, Dimapur.

The scheme provides durable, modern, and scientifically manufactured aids and assistive devices to PwDs in order to promote their physical, social, and psychological rehabilitation, as well as to reduce the effects of disabilities and improve their educational and economic potential.

In total, 126 PwDs from both districts were assessed for the provision of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, and smartphones at no cost at a later date.

In addition to the assessment, the PwDs also received disability certificates from the medical board, District Hospital Dimapur, as well as UDID (unique disability ID cards) from the chief medical officer, Dimapur, Dr. Imlitemsu Ozukum.
