Assam Rifles undertakes various humanitarian activities
Dimapur, May 30 (EMN): To support the civil administration in its efforts to manage the Covid-19 pandemic, the Kohima Battalion Assam Rifles has provided tin sheets for setting up soakage pits at the quarantine facilities in Meriema and Chedema village, Kohima.
An update from Lt Col L Vincent Patton informed that as part of the District Task Force and Covid Control Committee, Kohima Battalion is proactively participating in all endeavours of the civil administration in dealing with this pandemic in the district.
Vital road link restoration
The Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted civil administration in clearing the blockade along the Chenmoho-Chenloiso road on May 29.
Heavy and incessant rainfall had caused landslides in numerous stretches between Chenmoho village and Chenloiso village of Mon district, informed an update. The road being the only lifeline used by residents from the two villages required to be cleared urgently to enable move of essential supplies to the villages, it added.
Selected students felicitated
The Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles also felicitated candidates who were selected for Sainik School, Punglwa for the academic year 2020-21 on May 29 in the presence of their parents.
The update informed that Tuensang Battalion conducted coaching classes to assist aspirants in their preparation for Sainik School entrance exam. A total of 47 aspirants from Tuensang, Mon, Zunheboto, Longleng and Mokokchung districts availed the coaching facility, out of which 21 of them cleared the AISSEE.
Drinking water supply
With critical paucity of water in maintaining the 80-bedded quarantine facility at the Co-operative Training Centre, Medziphema, Ghaspani Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted the district administration in providing water on May 29, according to an update received here on Saturday.
The administration and residents of Medziphema have expressed appreciation to the AR personnel for the help, it added.
Interaction with GBs
As part of its effort to reach out to the people and help contain the spread of the covid-19, the Mon Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) conducted an interaction meeting with village functionaries of Lungwa on May 29.
The Commandant highlighted various measures to prevent the spread of the virus and assured to provide all necessary assistance in the fight against this pandemic, the update imformed.
