Assam Rifles undertakes various activities, initiatives

DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony at the Unit War Memorial in Ghaspani to pay homage to Rfn (GD) Lungmuana Lushai, who made the supreme sacrifice in Sakhai village on March 27, 1956.

The unit was deployed in Jairampur, Arunachal Pradesh, at the time, according to an update. Four officers, 22 junior commissioned officers (JCOs), and 192 other ranks of the battalion were present at the ceremony.

During the ceremony, the attendees were briefed on how the fallen hero displayed conspicuous gallantry, indomitable resolve, grit, determination, and selflessness beyond the call of duty, ultimately making the supreme sacrifice.

Outreach programme at ITI Mokokchung

Assam Rifles organised an outreach programme for local youth at ITI Mokokchung on March 28 with the aim of engaging and inspiring them to consider a career in the armed forces.

The initiative, with a focus on promoting patriotism, leadership, and service to the nation, aimed to enlighten students about various opportunities available within the armed forces and motivate them to contribute to the nation’s security.

Following the event, there was an interactive session during which students inquired about the qualifications and tests conducted at various levels during the selection process in the armed forces.

Familiarisation visit for students

Assam Rifles hosted a familiarisation programme for 104 students from Sainik School Punglwa at Jalukie, Peren district. The programme showcased the rich traditions, modern facilities, and daily functioning of an Assam Rifles battalion.

The visit included a lecture aimed at inspiring the young students to strive for excellence in their future endeavours. Also, they were given an opportunity to learn about various weapons on display, providing them with insights into the equipment utilised by the Assam Rifles.

The students were given a tour of the battalion, providing them with an opportunity to observe the daily routine and responsibilities of the soldiers serving within the unit.

Security meeting in Mon

Assam Rifles organised a security coordination meeting in Sheanghah Chingnyu, Mon district, on March 27.

Village authorities from Sheanghah Chingnyu, S Mokok, S Wamsa, S Tangten, Lokyo, and Nyahnyu attended the meeting, it mentioned.

The main agenda of the meeting was to analyse the prevailing security situation in the villages for the upcoming general elections and to develop cordial relations between Assam Rifles and the local populace.

Waiting shed inaugurated in Dimapur

On March 27, the Assam Rifles inaugurated a waiting shed at AK Industrial village, which was constructed under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme for the fiscal year 2023–24.

The inauguration ceremony was conducted in the presence of Shikuto Zalipu, general secretary of the Nagaland GB Federation, Toniho Sema of Western Sumi Hoho, GBs, chairmen, students, and villagers from AK Industrial and nearby villages.

About 350 people were present on the occasion.
