Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): Phek battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised a workshop on career guidance at Phek Government College on June 2.
Commandant of 22 Assam Rifles was one of the guest speakers, while the other speakers included Shanavas C, deputy commissioner, Phek; Dr. Naieem Mustafa, superintendent of police, Phek; and Gideon L Sumi, district employment officer, Phek.
The commandant educated the students on various entries schemes to join armed forces. He elaborated upon the entries schemes like 10+2 technical entry scheme, 10+2 entry to National Defence Academy, post graduation entry scheme, NCC special entry scheme, technical graduate course and university entry scheme. He also emphasised on service benefits, life at academy, professional growth of an officer and various adventures activities in the armed forces. A total of 247 students and 38 teachers attended the said workshop at the college.

Chieswema battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised a drawing competition on the theme ‘Say no to drugs’ on June 7.
The event was organised in collaboration with Government High School, Thetsumi, and Government Higher Secondary School, Chiechama. The aim of the competition was to inculcate competitive spirit and bring out hidden talents among the students and to spread awareness about ill effects of drugs menace on individuals and the society.
A total of 85 students from Classes VIII to XII participated in the competition. Prizes were distributed based on the concept and ideas depicted by the students through their drawings.
The same battalion has conducted an interaction with village GBs and village council members of Chiephobozou, Chiechama and Model village under Chiephobozou sub-division on May 31.
Issue on health, sanitation, employment and skill development were discussed during the meeting. Assam Rifles has assured the GBs of all possible support in their future endeavours.
In a related programme, Medziphema battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised an interaction programme with Gaon Burahs and chairmen of nearby villages on June 12.
The event was organised with a view to interact with village heads and understand the issues concerning the civil populace of the villages. It also aimed at providing opportunity to engage more closely with Assam Rifles. The discussion was focused on the health, employment, education and development projects for the nearby villages. Assam Rifles urged the villagers to approach for any assistance.
A total of 22 Gaon Burahs participated in the interaction programme.
In a separate programme, Tuensang battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised an interaction with village GBs of Changlangsho in Tuensang district on June 8.
The aim of the event was to promote better co-ordination and strengthen relationship with the village administration. During the meeting, issues related to development, health and employment were discussed. Altogether 30 villagers including GBs attended the meeting.
In yet another programme, Dimapur battalion of the Assam Rifles has inaugurated a 20,000 litres water reservoir at Aoyimti village on June 9. The project included four over head water tanks of 5000 litre each which would supply water to Aoyimti village. The inauguration ceremony was attended by 50 villagers.
Meanwhile, Wokha battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised an awareness lecture on HIV/AIDS at Government Higher Secondary School, Chukitong, on June 7.
The lecture was conducted to create public awareness about HIV/AIDS epidemic and educate the youth about preventive measures. The programme concluded with refreshments and informal interaction with the villagers.
A total of 68 students and ten teachers including the principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Chukitong, attended the event.
The Phek battalion of the Assam Rifles also conducted an interaction with the VCCs of Avangkhu on June 8. They have discussed on pre-recruitment training for the youths, friendship tournaments, medical aid camp, MCA projects and career counselling for children.
The interaction also included central government schemes, civil administration projects and importance of maintaining peace, tranquillity, and overall development of Avankghu town and nearby villages.
A total of eight village council members attended the event.
