Dimapur, Aug. 11 (EMN): The PRO, Hq IGAR (N) today clarified on a recent raid on the residence of an NSCN (IM) functionary and stated that the raid was carried out by the 32 Assam Rifles and Nagaland police on Aug. 9 2018 basing on information about the presence of ‘an arms dealer/arms and ammunition in the house of Kishore Jeedung at Dhansaripar, Dimapur’.
The Assam Rifles was reacting to a news item that appeared in local dailies where the NSCN (IM) condemned the raid in the residence of one of its functionary.
A rebuttal from the IGAR (N) stated that while interacting “with Kishore Jeedung the individual informed the Assam Rifles company commander that he is a card holder and a member of steering committee of NSCN (IM)’.
“Consequently, the operation was not progressed any further and no search of the house was carried out by AR and the police as has been alleged,” the AR stated while adding that an ‘NOC’ was also obtained from the individual.
Saying that the security forces conducted themselves in the most dignified manner with the individual and his family, the release stated that the ‘allegation of 20-30 intruders with mask without insignia, deliberate violation of ceasefire ground rules, search of the house, forced signing of the No Objection Certificate by the occupant, man-handling of the son etc’ are “baseless devoid of evidence and is a deliberate attempt by the NSCN (IM) to tarnish the image of the Assam Rifles”.
