Assam Rifles reaches out to the public

Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) conducted an interactive session with chairman and GBs of Jotsoma village, Kohima on October 14 to discuss several matters concerning the public

An update from Lt Col L Vincent Patton informed that the interaction was focused on liaison between the locals and security forces about the issues concerning the local populace like health, education, employment, sports, illegal extortion and ways to foster peace and harmony in the region.

Clean and Green Nagaland

Kiphire battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) organised an awareness lecture under the theme “Clean & Green Nagaland” at Longmatre town on October 12.

An update received on Monday informed that the lecture was conducted to provide an insight to the local residents about the importance of hygiene, sanitation and its benefits for individuals and the society.

Altogether, 25 residents including EAC and village functionaries attended the lecture.

Water storage tank distribution

Shamatore battalion of Assam Rifles under aegis of HQ IGAR (N) facilitated residents of Chokla village with three 1000 litre water storage tank on October 7, said an update received here on Monday.

The water storage tanks were provided in order to assist in storage of water to be used during lean season. This initiative of the Assam Rifles provided a much-needed facility for the people, stated the update.

Solar lamps and medical camp in Phek

Phek battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) distributed solar lights to residents of Losami village on October 12 with an aim to facilitate night illumination facility to the local populace devoid of basic lighting amenities.

A total of 88 solar lamps were given to the beneficiaries, which included eight orphans, informed an update from the Assam Rifles on Monday.

In another event, the battalion conducted a medical camp to provide free medical treatment and checkup to local people who have been devoid of requisite medical facilities. The medical team also visited houses of elderly people who were unable to attend the medical camp for health reasons.

Apart from the medical assistance, basic knowledge on epidemic diseases including precautions was also imparted. A totasl of 175 residents, consisting of 77 males, 63 females and 35 children benefitted from the camp, informed the update.
