Assam Rifles reaches out to people with healthcare services
Dimapur, Dec. 29 (EMN): Hundreds of rural people from different districts of the state were benefitted from the healthcare services rendered by the Assam Rifles during the month of December.
Shamatore battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp in Pangsha village under Tuensang district on December 24.
The aim of the medical camp, according to the Assam Rifles’ press release, was to provide free medical treatment to local residents of remote areas devoid of requisite medical facilities. It stated that a specially constituted medical team under regimental medical officer treated a total of 227 patients including 70 males, 105 females and 52 children.
Besides, free medical treatment, medicines were also provided to the ailing patients. The team also imparted basic awareness on HIV/AIDS including ill effect of drugs.
In a related programme, Kiphire battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp in Thoktsur (Thokchur) village under Kiphire district on December 24.
The aim of the medical camp was to provide medical treatment to local populace of Thoktsur (Thokchur) village who were devoid of requisite medical facilities. It stated that residents of Thoktsur village were examined and were made aware about seasonal and skin diseases.
A total of 83 individuals were examined during the medical camp. They were also given medicines.
Earlier on December 22, Mokokchung battalion of the Assam Rifles also conducted a free medical camp in Longtho village (Dessoi) under Mokokchung district.
The aim of the camp was to provide medicines and basic diagnosis to local population from all walks of life across all age groups. The medical camp was coordinated and conducted by Captain Saurav Dhand, RMO of Assam Rifles.
It stated that a total of 129 patients including 37 male, 54 female and 38 children were screened and also given medicines free of cost during the camp.
