DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) distributed three plastic water storage tanks to the CSM Orphan Home in Peren town and Christian English School in Tesen village under Peren district on August 24.
A DIPR report stated that water tanks were handed over to the village authorities during a function in the presence of teachers, students, village council presidents, and other stakeholders. It stated that the water tanks are expected to alleviate water scarcity in the remote village by enabling water storage throughout all seasons.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Besides, the local community was educated about rainwater harvesting techniques and the significance of preserving water sources through forest conservation.
Additionally, the residents were provided guidance on health and hygiene practices to observe during varying weather conditions. The event was attended by 10 teachers, 35 students, and village authorities.
It stated that the teachers, inmates, village council members and villagers collectively expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for their compassionate efforts in aiding the underprivileged and marginalised in remote regions.
