DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles conducted a wreath-laying ceremony at the Unit War Memorial in Ghaspani on Wednesday to honour Rifleman Namal Kanti Barman, who attained martyrdom in the line of duty on January 3, 1997.
According to an update, Barman had lost his life when the unit was deployed at Thoubal Bazar, Manipur. The ceremony was attended by three officers, 23 junior commissioned officers, and 312 other ranks of the Assam Rifles.
The attendees were briefed on the occasion about Barman’s conspicuous gallantry, grit and selflessness in making the supreme sacrifice while upholding the traditions of the force.
