Assam Rifles organises joint ESM rally in Mokokchung
DIMAPUR —Assam Rifles organised a joint Ex-servicemen (ESM) rally of Assam Rifles and armed forces in Mokokchung on January 17 with the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), Maj. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, as the chief guest on the theme “Serving those who served the nation.”
A defence release stated that more than 1100 veterans including Veer Naris, widows of Assam Rifles, army, navy and air force from all districts of Nagaland attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, IGAR , Maj. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, appreciated the veterans, Veer Naris and widows, who travelled long distance to attend the rally and encouraged them to be more acquainted with the use of pension related apps.
It stated that record branch officers from DGAR headquarters, Col veteran from 41 sub area and director of Rajya Sainik Board addressed the veterans on matters related to pension.
Brigadier Vikram Singh, Commander of 7 Sector Assam Rifles, delivered a welcome address and updated them about the various facilities provided at the venue.
It stated that veterans were provided medical aid like wheel chairs, hearing aids, walking sticks and spectacles during the programme.
A total of 28 stalls were set up including records branch for documentation, army recruitment office, pension cell, resettlement branch, banks, agriculture department, skill development, state legal services and canteen services to provide instant services regarding long pending issues or grievances of ex-servicemen.
Report further stated that the veterans and Veer Naris have expressed gratitude to the Directorate General of Assam Rifles for organising the event.
