DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles organised a tree plantation drive on Monday at Seluophe village, Dimapur, with an aim of raising awareness about the importance of trees in people’s lives and conserving the environment.

According to a press release, about 30 villagers, including gaon burahs, the Chairman of Seluophe village, along with troops of Assam Rifles, participated in the event.

They planted saplings of various varieties, including medicinal, fruit-bearing, and flowering saplings, aiming to achieve the dual purpose of environmental protection and soil conservation.

‘A day with company commander’

Assam Rifles organised a visit for the children of Wangti village as part of its initiative ‘A day with company commander’ in Mon district on April 28, in which a total of 115 children spent the day participating in various fun-filled activities.

An interaction with troops was also organised to motivate the children about the importance of education and honing their talents to shape their future.

A similar programme was also held at the company operating base (COB) in Chizami, Phek district, on the theme “Together, stronger, forever,” and a total of 11 teaching faculty members and 48 students from classes 10 and 12 attended the event.

The day commenced with a welcome at the company operating base, followed by a tour of the base, a tea party, fun games, lunch, and a musical evening, and concluded with a vote of thanks by the company commander.
