Assam rifle marks Earth day with various events

An Assam Rifles personnel joins students in planting saplings to mark World Earth Day.


  • DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles on Tuesday conducted a painting competition and tree plantation drive at Assam Rifles Public School, Jalukie, on the occasion of Earth Day.

  • According to an update, the event saw participation from 60 students.

  • It was stated that the painting competition provided a platform for students to express their artistic talents, while the tree plantation drive instilled values of environmental stewardship and sustainability.

  • These activities were designed to nurture both creativity and a sense of responsibility towards the environment, contributing to the holistic development of the students, the release added.

  • Also, the Assam Rifles conducted a guidance session and online registration for the upcoming Agniveer recruitment examinations. The aim of the initiative was to introduce the exam format, provide advice on time management, boost confidence, and identify the strengths and weaknesses of the aspirants.

  • A total of 20 aspirants, including four girls, from various villages under Peren district attended the session.

  • Further, Assam Rifles organised "A day with the company commander" with the students of Jadonang Heraka High School and St. Francis High School at Tening, Peren district, on April 21.

  • The initiative was designed to entertain and educate young minds and featured interactive sessions, games, tree plantation, and insights into leadership, discipline, and teamwork. It was attended by 50 participants.

  • To mark the occasion of World Earth Day, Assam Rifles also organised a tree plantation drive at Dihoma Government High School and Assam Rifles Public School, where 235 saplings of indigenous species were planted in and around the campus premises and nearby community areas.

  • In an effort to engage young minds, a painting competition was organised for children of Northfield High School across different age categories.

  • Community outreach events were held at Mimi village in Kiphire and Avangkhu in Meluri. The highlights included planting saplings, distributing solar lights, and lectures on the importance of conservation, afforestation, and sustainable resource use.
