Assam Rifles launches Meri LiFE, celebrates Athletics Day in Arunachal
DIMAPUR — In the lead-up to World Environment Day in June 2024, the Assam Rifles launched the Meri LiFE initiative on Sunday at Jairampur in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
According to a press release, during the event, the troops were briefed about the LiFE (Life For Environment) initiative launched by the Indian Government as a mass movement for “mindful and deliberate utilisation, instead of mindless and destructive consumption of resources,” aimed at protecting and preserving the environment.
The troops were also educated about the themes and phases envisioned for their collective approach towards sustainability under the initiative. This was followed by a pledge by the troops to make changes in their daily lives to protect the environment and motivate others to do the same.
Further, in its endeavour to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle, Assam Rifles celebrated World Athletics Day by organising an athletics festival, which included competitions such as running 100m and 400m relay, shot put, and javelin throw, at Vijaynagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
The event witnessed participation from a total of 60 students and two teachers from Vijaynagar Public School, as well as personnel from Assam Rifles.
