Assam Rifles holds meetings, organises various events

DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles organised a security coordination meeting with the GBs and chairman of Khongsa village, Kiphire district, on the theme ‘navigating threats through our collective efforts’ on October 4.

A press release mentioned that matters related to the possible recruitment of youths in UG groups and ways to evade forcible recruitment and illegal taxation were discussed on the occasion.

They assured their support to the security forces in maintaining peace, tranquillity, and harmony and curbing any illegal activities.

They were also assured in the meeting that the societal development issues would be communicated to the civil administration as well as the Kiphire District Disaster Management Board.

Meeting at Noykhu

The Assam Rifles coordinated a security meeting at Noykhu, Mon district, as part of its ‘peace and prosperity campaign’.

The meeting was attended by 12 people, including GBs, the chairman, village guards of the AOR, and representatives from Nagaland Police, to discuss upcoming CSR projects, government road projects, and village electrification plans.

Meeting at Lungwa

The Assam Rifles also held a security meeting with the apex village bodies of Lungwa village in Mon district.

Representatives from all major bodies attended the meeting, where the current situation in Myanmar and its implications for Indian villages were assessed and discussed.

A discussion also took place with respect to the security situation in the village. It culminated with villagers extending support to ensure peace.

Cleanliness drive

The Assam Rifles conducted a cleanliness drive and awareness campaign at Thongsonyu village in the Noklak district.

A total of 30 soldiers and 60 civilians, including students from the local primary school, gathered to clean up the area and pledged to keep their village clean.

During the event, special emphasis was placed on cleaning the area surrounding the village and raising awareness among the locals about personal and public hygiene.

Volleyball and football matches

The Assam Rifles celebrated the Yemshe festival at Avangkhu village, Phek district, with a volleyball match on October 4.

It also organised a friendly football match at Chenloisho, Mon, to promote sports at the rural level. A total of 22 locals participated in the match.
