Dimapur, July 18 (EMN): Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) continued to extend its services to communities across the state by conducting various welfare programmes, providing facilities to quarantine centres and maintaining roads.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]Assam Rifles of Zunheboto battalion conducted a two-day free medical camp at Meyiolong and surrounding villages of Mokokchung district.
A combined medical team of Assam Rifles and community health centres provided medical consultation to 185 residents and basic treatment to the ailing people.
Besides distribution of free medicines, the team also conducted interactive session on women healthcare and awareness on how to build immunity against Covid-19.
In a separate programme, the Jalukie battalion organised medical camp at Punglwa 'B' village on July 15, in commemoration of the birth anniversary of martyr, Captain N Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous).
Medical team from Primary Health Centre, Punglwa and Assam Rifles provided medical consultation to 75 people including children. Vaccination was also administered to children and aged residents during the camp, it informed.
The troops also provided medical assistance to a resident of Peren who sustained injury on July 14.
In another event, the Jalukie battalion conducted an interaction session with children and staff of Zeme Women Organisation Children’s Home, Peren on July 15.
The personnel spoke on the ongoing Covid-19 crisis and stressed on the need of collective effort in the fight against the pandemic.
Medical consultation and treatment, free medicines, face masks and hand sanitisers were provided to them.
Also, the Mon battalion provided medical consultation to 221 people, treatment and medicines at a free medical camp in Shinga Chingnyu village on July 16.
Interaction on women healthcare and awareness on how to build immunity against Covid-19 was also conducted.
The Ghaspani battalion assisted the district administration by providing clean potable water for 80-bedded quarantine facility at Co-operative Training Centre, Medziphema in Dimapur district on July 16. The initiative was undertaken to ease the issue of water supply, an update informed.
The Kiphire battalion restored Pungro - Longmatre road that was disrupted due to landslide on July 14, due to heavy and incessant rains.
The Pungro - Longmatre road is the only lifeline used by residents of nearby villages, stated an update.
In another event, the Jalukie battalion carried out road maintenance drive in collaboration with Athibung Town Youth Organisation, between Athibung and Saijang village road link on July 14.
The drive was carried out to restore the road condition for hassle-free vehicular movement, deteriorated by incessant rainfall amid the onset on monsoon.
Apart from road maintenance, face masks were also distribution to residents, it informed.
