Assam Rifles conducts various activities

Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): Continuing with civic action programme, Assam Rifles conducted various activities across different parts of the state in the past one week.

Lecture and weapon display
As part of 72nd Army Day celebration and to spread awareness to students about avenues in the Indian armed forces, Tuensang battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a lecture at Wangti Company Operation Base (COB) on January 15.

Altogether, 35 students and four teachers of Government High School, Wangti, attended the lecture. Tuensang garrison also organised a weapon display which was attended by 56 students and seven teachers.

Interaction with ARESM
With an aim to inquire about their concerns and  grievances, Ghaspani battalion organised an interaction with Assam Rifles Ex-servicemen (ARESM) at its headquarters on January 18.

While assuring them of every possible assistance, ARESM were informed about the upcoming ARESM rally at Kohima scheduled on January 30. Medical consultation was also organised and provided basic treatment.

Altogether, 10 ARESM, eight Veer Naris and two children from Medziphema town and surrounding areas attended the event.

Yoga with residents of Mokokchung
In sync with the ‘Fit India Movement’ campaign, Mokokchung battalion observed a ‘Fitness Week’ wherein yoga was performed by troops along with local populace. Awareness about the health benefits of yoga was imparted alongside demonstrations. 

Celebrates Tsungkamneo festival
Shamatore battalion participated in Tsungkamneo-cum-mini Hornbill festival from January 15 to the 17th at Mundun village by establishing ‘Tastes of India stall’ representing different cuisines of India and also organised weapon displays.

Interactive sessions were also conducted giving youth necessary information about skill development courses, coaching for Sainik School and pre-recruitment training being provided by the Assam Rifles.
