Assam Rifles conducts various activities in rural areas
Dimapur: Tuensang battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted ‘Education first initiative’ for unemployed youth in Menchangle village under Mon district on March 17.
According to a defence release, the initiative was aimed at promoting government schemes among the unemployed youth and to guide them about the process of application and examination.
It stated that the youth and students of Menchangle village were briefed about the ‘Agniveer scheme’ including its perks and privileges of being an Agniveer. It stated that many individuals, who do not have Adhaar card and other necessary documents for registration, were counseled to get the same at earliest.
The session concluded with an interaction session.
The same battalion also organised a friendly volleyball match with students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Girls Hostel, Bumei village, under ‘Naari Shakti Initiative’ at Changlanshu COB in Mon district on March 18.
The event was organised to provide equal opportunity for women in society. The match was played between the girls’ hostel team and COBs team. It stated that the girls showed exceptional sportsmanship spirit and displayed confident and competitive approach for the game leading to their win with a final set score of 3-2.
The team comprised of 33 students along with teaching staff and hostel warden. The event concluded with a brief lecture about the future prospects of education and career opportunities for the girls.
In another programme, Chieswama battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a medical clinic on the occasion of National Vaccination Day in Sumi village under Phek district on March 16.
The aim of medical clinic was to reach out to the local populace in the village and provide medical facilities. A total of 74 villagers attended the camp. Meanwhile, Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on importance of education in Tening and Benreu villages under Peren district on March 16.
During the programme, the speakers have highlighted on the importance of education in acquiring knowledge, skills, and values that are essential for personal and societal growth. They have also emphasised on the importance of education in enhancing employability and promoting economic development.
The lecture was conducted by a team of Jalukie battalion of Assam Rifles, who shared their personal experiences of the transformative power of education. They spoke about how education had helped them in their professional and personal lives and encouraged the students and tribal youth to pursue education as a means of realising their dreams.
A total of 83 villagers were benefitted from the lecture.
