Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles provided emergency medical assistance to a dog bite victim in Tening village on November 19.

A defence release stated that the victim, Haipo (37) was immediately evacuated by civilians towards Assam Rifles medical team at Tening COB in Peren district, wherein he was attended by medical staff of Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles.

It stated that the timely medical treatment provided by nursing assistant of the Assam Rifles was appreciated by the victim, his family and all villagers.

In another programme, the same battalion organised an awareness lecture on career opportunities in armed forces for youth of Ahthibung town on November 19.

It stated that the youth were briefed on various career opportunities provided in the Indian armed forces. Besides, they were educated on selection procedures, education qualification, age limit, physical standards, recruitment, training, financial benefits and various post service prospects.

A total of 20 youth attended the event.

In yet another programme, the same battalion organised an awareness lecture on drug and substance abuse in Gaili and New Tesen villages on November 19.

The villagers were also educated about the ill effects of the social evil on rise and what other problems could arise in society.

It was followed with an interaction session with the villagers. It added that the villagers were also briefed on how better education and job opportunities could shape the future of their children and refrain them from submitting to drug abuse. Around 46 villagers attended the lectures.

Meanwhile, Tuensang battalion of the Assam Rifles celebrated an annual day at Assam Rifles High School in Tuensang town on November 19.

Presentation of various cultural items depicting different regions of the country was the main attractions of the event. All the students and teachers actively participated in the event.

DIG HQ of 7 Sector was the chief guest of the annual day function.

Report further stated that the 28 Assam Rifle conducted free medical checkup at Yonghong covering five villages on November 20, wherein at least 208 persons were diagnosed and issued medicines under the supervision of Capt. Palash Gupta and Capt. Dr. Vigneshwaran.

A press release issued by MHSU president has appreciated the 28 Assam Rifles and stated that the camp had benefited ailing persons especially the old ones who are inaccessible to other places. Apart from medical camp, the AR has renovated PWD road stretching about 16 km from border road in 17 days.
