DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles celebrated National Smile Day by organising an awareness programme with students and teachers of Govt. Primary School at Bamunpukhuri A in Dimapur on May 31, emphasising the transformative effects of a healthy smile.

According to a press release, on the occasion, the Assam Rifles personnel encouraged students to spread joy and embrace the positive impact of smiles. The event witnessed an attendance of over 60 students and teachers, including the principal of the school.

Similar programmes were also held in Kohima, Phek, and Wokha, during which the Assam Rifles interacted with the children and distributed chocolates, toffees, etc.

On the same day, May 31, Assam Rifles celebrated ‘World No Tobacco Day’ at Government High School, Akhegwo, in Phek district. The event aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and encourage efficient policies to reduce tobacco consumption.

It was informed that a total of 48 students, three teachers, and the school principal attended the event and the emphasis was on the urgent need for individuals to take a stand against tobacco.

Assam Rifles also held a donation drive under the Meri LiFE Amplification Plan 2024 as a prelude to World Environment Day. The event was organised by the No. 2 Training Battalion under the aegis of the Assam Rifles Training Centre & School on May 31.

During the programme, various items, such as utensils, clothes, shoes, and stationery items, were donated to the Nagaland Children’s Home in Dimapur.
