DIMAPUR — The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Assam Rifles (AR) engaged in an interaction with trainees at the vocational training centre for women in Meluri town established by the Assam Rifles.

According to an update, during the session, the DIG motivated the trainees to continue their diligent efforts and assured them of sustainable employment opportunities upon completion of their training.

The training centre was established by the Assam Rifles to offer employment opportunities for skilled women in the Phek region. It provides training in skill sets such as stitching and embroidery, aiming to enhance the social and family lives of women in the area.

Wreath laying ceremony

Assam Rifles organised a wreath-laying ceremony in Mokokchung on Tuesday to remember and honour Rifleman (General Duty) P Adani Mao, who laid down his life in the line of duty on April 2, 2002, at Sagolband, Manipur, during an ambush on the QRT team in Manipur.

A total of four officers, 18 junior commissioned officers (JCOs), and 116 other ranks (ORs) paid their respects to the gallant soldier.

Aoleang festival

On Tuesday, the Assam Rifles participated in the Aoleang festival, which was held in Changlangshu, Monyakshu, Chenloisho, and L-Wangti villages in Mon district,to celebrate the arrival of spring and the bountiful harvest with the Konyak Naga community.

The festivities showcased a rich tapestry of cultural dances, uplifting group songs and the conduct of volleyball competitions, it stated.

Easter Sunday

Assam Rifles celebrated Easter Sunday with the children of Hope Children’s Home.

Urmila Rathi, president of the Zonal Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA), visited the orphanage in Meluri town, Phek district, to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

During the celebrations, a cake cutting ceremony was held for the children, and gifts were distributed during the ceremonial tea party.
